the realization || it’s my life

This weekend was Busy with a capital B. Two weddings, a hotel room and a full tank of gas later, I made it. But, I didn’t just make it – it was better than that.

Friday’s wedding was amazing – a crazy in love couple, family and friends who loved them just as much. Surprises from the groom: a painter during the ceremony painting a canvas, a serenade of love songs at the reception. Pure magic.

Saturday’s wedding was at the gorgeous Stambaugh Auditorium and the love was pouring out of every crack. Rachel is a triplet and has a third sister – they were surrounded by over 300 friends and family to celebrate their wedding day. Jeff was funny, kind, accommodating and gracious the entire day. The reception was the most fun reception I’ve been to all year – so much fun, so so much fun. Rachel, Jeff, their family and friends made me feel like a part of the group and it could not have possibly been any better.

It was a bit of a hike for me to get there so I had a hotel that evening. As I crawled into bed I felt this amazing peace fall over me and it hit me. I have always known that this is what I wanted to do with my life. This weekend though? I knew that this is what I was meant to do with my life. And with that, I fell into the most wonderful sleep yet this wedding season.

Doing what you love, and what you were made to do, is a very wonderful thing.

  • Barbara Gordon - Kayla, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day or more perfect photographer! To have you at our home at 11:00 A.M., follow the bridal party to the wedding, then off for pics at not one, but two different locations, then finish up at the reception until 11:00 P.M., and never appear intrusive or demanding was a testament to your professionalism and personal integrity. You were part of the festivities, and the family for our special day! Thank you! Barbara Gordon ~ mother of the bride..
